What does my child need to attend Wildsong?
Children need to be dressed each day with closed-toed shoes and weather appropriate outdoor gear, as our classes will spend time in the sun, rain, wind, and snow. Each child should bring a backpack with a hearty snack from home, water bottle, and a change of clothes. The 1st-3rd grade homeschool students will also be asked to bring a pencil bag with some writing utensils, scissors, etc.
What is HighScope?
The evidence-based HighScope curriculum focuses on active learning through play, interaction with teachers, and authentic experiences. More information can be found here. HighScope principals will be found more commonly in the 3-6 age class but will also extend to the homeschool class.
What are the age cut-offs?
For our 3-6 year old classes children need to be at least 3 years old by September 1st, but no older than 7 by this date. This class is designed to support children through their kindergarten year. The grade level for rising 1st-3rd grade homeschoolers is determined by parents, but generally corresponds to children between the ages of 6 and 9.
Will you accept a child with a neurodevelopmental diagnosis?
Children with special learning rights are welcome to enroll if reasonable accommodations can be made for the child to safely participate in a drop-off program. Please contact us if you have questions regarding the particular needs of your child.
What kinds of activities will my child participate in at Wildsong?
During the Wildsong program children will participate in seasonal explorations, art, simple science experiments, read-alouds, music, and more! The 3-6 year old classes have lots of time for nature-based free play while the homeschool class will focus more on literacy and science projects.
