Founder/Director & Early Childhood Teacher
Janelle Phillips has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in education with a focus on natural science and environmental education. She is trained in HighScope, and in 2024 also completed Forest School Teacher and Director training with the Forest School Teacher Institute. Most of her 10 years of experience in education has been dedicated to teaching and directing environmental education programs for youth, including over 4 years of specific experience with nature-based early childhood programs.
Janelle has worked with a variety of ages in schools, at a zoo, on a boat, and at a nature center. Her most magical teaching moments have come from co-discovering the beauty of the natural world with young children. She also delights in sharing outdoor experiences and traveling with her husband and two boys.

Andrea Balentine
Nature-Based Early Childhood Teacher
Andrea brings five years of experience in early childhood Montessori classrooms to the Wildsong team, as well as previous experience nannying and in college admissions. She has a degree in psychology, loves working with children, and finds many moments of wonder being outdoors.
Andrea radiates kindness and warmth and is a strong asset for our early childhood classes. When she’s not teaching at Wildsong Andrea can be found working at a natural health food store, taking her pups to the dog park, and spending time outside with husband and son.
